Acting Like You Know What You Are Doing

By:

There is a quote that goes something like 90 percent of the population doesn't know what is happening, 9 percent do know what is happening, and a mere 1 percent actually make things happen. There is a statistic that is something similar to: 50 percent of people will do it wrong.

So if one percent of the population is making the world turn and fifty percent of them are doing it wrong, there is only a staggering point five percent of things happening that are actually happening for good. You may ask, "Well if half these people are doing it wrong why are they doing it at all?

These people that do things generally want money in turn for their activities or services they provide (even when they have done them wrong). However, it is illegal to not pay someone, so they get their money and are usually on their way to do something else.

One of the tricks these people have learned is the trick of acting like they know what you are doing. This is one of the best and most useful skills you can have in any business.

The executive producers says, "I need a talent agent", ok, I could do that. Even though I have no idea how to start doing that, if I acted confident about what I was doing it is likely that I would end up with moderately ok results and the producer would probably be happy.

This rule stems from the philosophy that basically everything that can be done is much easier than anyone will ever tell you. So with this in mind think of all the possible achievements that could be yours.

Truth is most everything is very easily accomplished; however, some people are definitely going to be much better at it than others. That is ok, acting like you know what you are doing and doing it better than anyone else are two entirely separate things.

To be the best at something is astounding, you should probably practice and be passionate about something you plan on being best at. Consequently acting like you are the best at something can cause trouble.

If you are acting like you are the best when really you most certainly are not, this will quickly become quite apparent and is best avoided. The best advice is to confidently act capable, and if asked to make adjustments confidently act as if it would be no problem to make them.

Using this technique is great for relationships and for career advancements. Just start pretending like you know what is up and soon enough after all the pretending you probably will.
