Accountability - Work From Home

Accountability - Work From Home

By:

You know just awhile ago I got off a monthly call that I get on with one of the mastermind groups that Im a part of. This one involves myself, Troy Henson of B Coaching, Tom Heely, Social Media Guy and Speaker/Comedian- Adam Ace.

We agree to get on the conference call once a month, set goals, obtain those goals and report on them and hold each other accountable. It really got me thinking about the whole subject of accountability and how accountability is another one of those words that kind of irks me because it tends to be a buzz word that a lot of people talk about and dont really put into action.

I know that weve all probably heard a million times about how so many people live lives in mediocrity that they dont like because of fear and not being willing to step out on faith and make something happen for themselves but then you have to ask the question Well if theres fear, what are they afraid of?

I was contemplating today on how one of the many things that people in that situation, some knowingly and some very unknowingly, are afraid of is accountability. In our society we are taught from very young ages that all true security exists outside of us.

In order to feel that we have some sort of security or some sort of peace in mind, in life, we need to be attached to a larger organization whether that be a social organization, a company that we work for, or an insurance company that we pay a bunch of money to for nothing.

Were taught that all security exists outside of ourselves and so many people trade in their freedom for a feeling of false security largely, especially in fact with their careers.

What it really boils down to is not wanting to be accountable for the results of if youre successful or if you fail. People feel like if they can hold a larger company accountable they can feel more secure about that.

But if youre looking to really create extraordinary success beyond that mediocre, you really have to be willing to take on accountability for yourself and for the results and outcomes of your efforts, whether they be amazing or whether it completely falls apart then you flop.

You have to be willing to take responsibility for that and hold yourself accountable for whatever happens. I would just say to you that you should look at it more so in light of its a responsibility and some of the price that you have to pay in order to live the life that you really want. Having major success doesnt happen by accident, its not free and its not necessarily easy.

There is a price to be paid but if you would take responsibility for it and be willing to hold yourself accountable as opposed to just settling for allowing someone else or thinking that someone else is going to take care of that for you.

But once again, Ive said it many times, you cant control what they do so you dont know what theyre going to do in the future.

I was actually talking to a friend of mine, a guy I used to work for who has spent the better part of 30 years with the company, moved his family all around the country, had a wife that one time was deathly ill and he was still commuting all over the State of California working for this company and he may not even have a job.

He has invested in this company his entire life, once again looking to make them accountable for what his outcome would be. I felt very sad just to hear how crushed his spirit was when he got that news.

So, if you want to be majorly successful, really make sure that you are willing to take on the accountability for your own life and for your own results because it really is the only way that you will ever be able to create a life by your own design that you love and you enjoy getting up to everyday.
