Accessorizing With Silk Scarves In Men's Fashion

By:

Nothing says more, about being dressed for success, than a silk scarf. The silk scarf is an accessory, which means it is not required or needed so when a man wears one, it shows an extra refinement in taste. If the weather is cold outside, it seems very appropriate to accessorize with a silk scarf, but weather conditions are not the determining factor. When you attend a black tie event, it is very appropriate to wear a white silk scarf that has tassels inside at the event no matter what the temperature might be. You simply drape the silk scarf around your neck and let each end with the tassels hang down in front. This makes you look quite dapper and appealing and softens the overall look of your black tuxedo as well. All that black starts to be so dreary unless there is the contrast of white to break up the visual pattern and give the eyes a rest.

The use of silk scarves does not stop there. You can also use silk scarves as an ascot, when they are tied properly and placed around the neck in substitution for the neck tie. This is where you can let your creativity lose. It is recommended that you start with single color silk scarves in the beginning until you get a feeling of the response, but you may then rapidly move on to paisley prints and other designs as soon as you gain some confidence. Once you have a positive reaction to wearing a silk scarf as an ascot, you will be encouraged to take this fashion choice to the next level. There really is nothing you can do that is wrong, short of not following the basic theme of non-competition between black and brown. You would not, for example, want to wear a dark brown silk scarf with a black suit, nor would you want to wear a black silk scarf with a brown suit. The color competition would be too intense. But feel free to explore all the rest of the color spectrum, which can be displayed by your silk scarf when tied as an ascot.

If you are using a silk scarf, as an added accessory when you are also wearing a tie, then you need to exercise a bit more caution. It is important in this case to not have the scarf conflict with the choice of the tie and your choice of scarf colors should be much more subdued. In this case the scarf frames the tie so it is better that is it a single color that is lighter than your suit, but darker than the tie. For example, if you are wearing a dark suit and you have a light colored tie, then choose a scarf color to accessorize that is a shade in between.. If you follow these basic rules they wearing a scarf as an accessory is a magnificent way to have that extra panache when your outfit is compared with others.
