Accepting Our Overweight Children As They Are

By:

Managing weight loss in children can be such a challenging task because it is hard to turn around a situation of weight gain in them, as it would be in adults.

It is emotionally distressing to watch helplessly as your little girl or boy body become fuller more daily.

In these modern days when being overweight has become an important issue of concern to both adults and children, it can be tough for a parent to accept this condition in their own fresh and blood.

This is especially so if the child is too young to understand why the mother is denying them the foods they have extra appetite for or why they are discriminated by their age mates.

Parents view these children as very sensitive and go an extra mile to pay for their special attention.

Mothers especially find it difficult to concentrate at work or far from their overweight babies and fret easily when their health deteriorates a little.

Other people also intervene negatively by making comments meant to be humorous about the huge baby but to the mother, these translate in to deep bitterness

Knowing that they have sole responsibility of this kind of a child, mothers only need to toughen up, as these comments never cease as long as this condition is not rectified.

It becomes even harder for the child when they start learning because other children respond really bad to their condition by calling them names or even refusing to play with them.

Overweight children may not show their dissatisfaction with their body image on the outside but the inside continues deteriorating.

Causes and solutions of weight gain in children

As reliable source states, overeating do not cause all cases of obesity in children, some may be naturally inclined to this condition.

Such kids have genes that make their bodies gain weight swiftly as compared to other children of the same age and as we all know, there is not much we can do about our components of our genes.

Possibly the ever rampant cases of overweight children is attributable to the modern lifestyle characterized by less physical activity.

The games that used to be outdoors at the fields, are now programmed in software installed in the computers if need arises to play them.

Some prefer online chatting with friends they do not see and they can play with, and thus we can say that todays kids are missing out in one stage of their lifetime, which allows them to think less and just have fun and relax.

Indoor games means that the likely movement they can have is between the kitchen and the computer point and one may be unsure how their bodies can burn the extra calories resulting from eating junk food they love most.

The sugars in these kinds of foods end up being absorbed directly in their tiny bodies and when they accumulate, they are converted in to fats.

Dieting may not be an option while trying to control a problem of weight gain in children because the same disadvantage adults have experienced with diets can be much severe in kids.

Also strenuous workouts is not be recommended apart from usual physical play and gentle exercises meant to make them active.

Just like adults who are overweight may suffer from heart failure for instance, the same may happen to kids at their very tender age, due to excess cholesterol not forgetting the emotional distress.

If you have such a child, the least you can do is hate them for their uncontrollable condition, instead seek medical expertise on their behalf!
