Above Average Shoe Storage Solutions

Got tons of shoes but no space to for them? Frustrating, isn't it? If you want to keep your shoes neat and organized we've got just what you've been looking for but couldn't find. No pun intended.

Well, you're not alone. Like others you hate the hassle of managing your beloved shoe collection. Not to mention how frustrated you feel when you just can't seem to find the perfect pair for your little black dress. It's enough to make you pull your hair out at times, right?

What about a spiffy shoe organizer? Anything that you can hide behind a door, under your bed, or a place less visible but easy to get to will do.

Now if you want to take the route of closet storage, the closet design pros strongly recommend adjustable shelving. These give you enough storage space for your shoes as well as other things that you need to store. Being adjustable such shelving can hold different types of foot wear. This means more space for boots, enough space for your favorite heels and small spaces for sandals or flips flops too. Right, what's not to like?

You can also use pullout trays and angled shelves. Just keep in mind that the drawback with either is they offer less flexibility than adjustable shelving does.

Using shoe cubbies should be the-road-less-traveled when it comes to shoe storage. As they are unfortunately found all to frequently to be sized to hold small shoes only. Or worse in some cases only one shoe fits in a cubby. Which is the most common complaint indicating these fail the suitability test I'd say.

Skip those plastic storage boxes while you're at it! Especially when storing leather shoes which need air to breathe. This can be a problem since plastic boxes tend to trap odors and moisture.

Like I mentioned before you can also get storage units that slide under your bed. Which gives you a way to put otherwise underutilized space to good use. Just make sure you get something sturdy enough for the job. Many don't rate these highly as they tend to be made from flimsy cardboard. Plus there's the convenience factor - or lack thereof as you have to pull the organizer out from under the bed whenever you need to access your shoes.

Lastly, you can make use of the back of the door of your bedroom or closet. A storage system with clear pockets is the best bet for storing shoes there. You can also use this for keeping other things like socks, craft supplies, even your digital camera. The advantage with this system is the clear pockets make it easy for you to find what you're looking for.
