About The Grand Prix F1

By:

If you translate grand prix literally it means high price or loosely translated to high prizes, but when you add Grand Prix F1 you are speaking about a Formula 1 race like the Monaco Grand Prix which takes place every year and has done so almost every year since 1929 when the first race was by private invitation only and several of the classic car makers and drivers choose not to attend. That year the race was won by a Bugatti type 35B. If you attend the Monaco Grand Prix you will be joining thousands of people because it is considered the jewel of the Formula or Grand Prix F1 racing world. It is a classic circuit that takes place on the city streets including passing the Monte Carlo Casino and passing the harbor also.

The cars that race in a Grand Prix F1 today are a lot different from those that racing in 1929. In fact it wasnt until 1946 when the F1 became a new car racing category. Today the cars are mid-engine open cockpit and open wheel one seated vehicles. Their chassis is mostly carbon fiber composition which makes it a light car but also stiff and strong. The formula in Formula or F1 is the specifications that each car must possess in order to qualify for a Formula 1 race. This dictates anything from RPMs to tires. A winning driver will depend on the electronics, aerodynamics, the suspension and the tires. Of course all of these have changed over the years. The whole car including driver, oils, and any ballast must meet a minimum weight requirement of 1367 pounds. These cars and the circuits they drive are considered to be the fastest racing circuits in the world.

The circuits generally start with a straight road then it varies by course. Monaco has a street course of Monte-Carlo and La Condamine including the harbor. It takes approximately six weeks to set up the course in Monaco and it takes approximately three weeks to dismantle it. The streets are closed at 07h00 each day of the race. The course length in Monaco is 78 laps and 161.887 miles. One lap is 2.075 miles. The Monaco Grand Prix is considered one of the Triple Crowns of motorsport racing much like the Kentucky Derby is one of the Triple Crowns of horse racing. The other two parts of the motorsport crown are the Indy 500 and the 24 hours of Le Mans.

Other courses of the Grand Prix F1 circuit are Melbourne which is comes up in March, Valencia in June, the 2011 Formula Belgium Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps, Formula 1 Gran Premio Santan der DItalia 2011 in Monza, and in Budapest the Formula 1 ENI MAGYAR NAGYDiJ 2011 to name a few. All of the cars must follow the formula 1 specification to be able to attend and qualify for the Grand Prix races. These are a very popular form of entertainment and a billion dollar business no matter where they are held.
