About The Family International

Founder:
Hailing from a considerably long line of not traditional ministers and preachers, David Bergs life was spent in Service to Christ Jesus. in the late sixties he founded the Children of God.The group at first was consisting of mainly hippies, however later gathered a following of people from many different walks of life, the organization grew fast and later became known as the Family International.

In his lifetime, Father David censured mainstream Christians for their lack of a desire to follow the teachings of Christ, stating that true believers should follow Christ within the context of the early church, living a socialistic style, simple life and devoting as much of their time and resources as possible to preaching the good news of the Gospel.

In October 1994, David Berg passed away. As a reminder of his influence, during the first 25 years of the movement's history, Father David inspired members to preach the good news of the Gospel with more than 250 million people in over 100 countries, of whom nearly 18 million accepted Jesus as their Savior.

From the 1970's and onward, the Family International were very active in South America. TFI members have committed themselves to bring help, aid and attention to the needy, preaching the Gospel , and raising up the downhearted and downtrodden.

South America:
