These things include giving a contour that allows you to have two breasts, an improved symmetry for the same shape you had before, and you can avoid the need for a prosthesis. You do not need a new breast. It makes women feel much better.

When you have a doctor perform breast reconstruction following a mastectomy it can help you with your self-esteem and your bodys image. You dont want a constant reminder of your cancer to look at in the mirror every day. A new breast can help you eliminate the memories of the cancer. You also may need to have several surgeries to get the look and the feel of the new breast right.

There are many things that breast reconstruction will not do for you. One of these things is that the new breast will not look exactly the same as your old one. You will not have the same sensation in your breast either. The new breast will look the same when you are wearing clothing but it will be evident when you are not clothed.

When you get breast reconstruction you will be able to replace the breast taken from you by a mastectomy. This type of surgery can make you feel much better about yourself but it will not entirely replace the old breast. It will take away the evidence of your cancer.
