What you see Aarif Opticians is perhaps among the oldest optical showrooms in Vizag. We visited its branch near Rainbow Aarif Opticians, VizagDigital, in the vicinity of CMR Grand, owned by optometrist Munir Aarif. As we entered, the shops tidiness and good maintenance impressed us. Sunglasses, contact lens and spectacles of various local and international brands were placed orderly in smartly designed shelves, showcases and rotating display stands. We spotted an eye testing space too.

What you get You can get a range of eyewear here. Among sunglasses, the brands include international ones like RayBan, Oxydo, Hugo Boss, Espirit, Safilo, Elle, Vogue, D&G, Fastrack, Carrera etc apart from local ones like Sanate, Simplex, X-line, Virus, Ruplix and more. The retro fashion seems quite in, as evident from the designs. Aviator, oversized ones and butterfly models in metal and fiber frames for both men and women are smart picks. Fashionable colored sunglasses in shades of baby Aarif Opticians, Vizagpink, sea green, sky blue, light yellow, brown, maroon, white etc are there as well. Non branded ones are available too from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,575.

The spectacles section at Aarif Opticians has power and powerless glasses. The frames are again available in metals like titanium and stainless steel as well as in fiber ones. The power glasses and also the reading glasses are available in varied designs like full frame, half frame, frame less and thick fiber frames (very popular) in darker shades from Rs. 250 to Rs. 1,400.

Aarif Opticians stocks some excellent sets of power glasses, called as progressive ones. These lenses are made of single glass which is auto adjusting with all features of near, intermediate and distance vision, without any demarcation on the glass, thus giving a smart look. These power progressive lenses range from Rs. 1,400 to Rs. 7,000. The showroom also sells contact lenses by Johnson & Johnson, Bausch & Lomb, Silklens in all categories like conventional or power, cosmetic (in multi color and with power) and disposable ones (Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 5,000). The optical glasses and lenses are UV protected. Automized eye testing equipment is also available here so that you can get eye check-up done.

Our verdict - Aarif Opticians as a brand has been around since years. It has grown to be a reliable one. The glares here are quite fashionable apart from keeping the eyes protected from harsh sunrays. Worth a try. Customer support is helpful and parking needs to be done on the main road.
