This is a warning against buying steam showers on EBAY. Not saying that all distributors on Ebay are the same, however over the past few years we have received hundreds of calls from consumers who have been victimized by unscrupulous ebay sellers. The majority of ebay sellers have no actual inventory. What they will do is take the money from the auction and then purchase the unit directly from the manufacturer. The vast majority of steam shower manufacturers are located over seas. So after the unit is manufactured it is then put on a boat and shipped over to the US. So you won"t be getting your steam shower for at least 10 weeks. The breakage on less than container loads (the way they ship the unit) is extremely high this is where we would get the majority of the complaints, angry ebay customers call us trying to order replacement parts for showers we do not carry. We have been told that replacement parts usually take at least 3 months to get and you may have to end up paying for them.
The next problem that many customers face when buying steam showers on EBAY is servicing the steam shower unit. If you read the fine print on the auction the seller states the unit comes with a one year manufacturers warranty. However they do not give you the name of the manufacturer so you are at the mercy of the seller to get replacement parts. If you are able to get the name of the manufacturer you will have an even harder time trying to get a hold of them. Since they are over seas they typically will not speak English and are not set up to mail replacement parts to the US not to mention you will have to stay up too 12am to make an international call. This is why getting your replacement parts will be next to impossible unless you have a translator.
Another large problem with buying steam showers on ebay is sellers offer virtually no technical support for installing or using the steam shower. The majority of ebay sellers have never seen the products they sell and know little if nothing about them. The instruction manuals for installing these steam showers differ from company to company. However having an expert technical staff to assist you in installing the unit is something that the majority of buyers don"t think about.
Our advice to you if you are still considering buying a steam shower on ebay is two buy two possibly three. This way you have replacement parts and you are almost guaranteed to get one in one piece, if not you should be able to have enough parts to assemble one working unit. Although this ruins your EBAY savings so you might as well buy from a reputable dealer.
When looking for a reputable dealer you should look for the following:
A fast delivery time, if the unit is in stock units should be able to be delivered in 7-14 business days.
A good warranty, a minimum of 3 years is standard through out the industry.
Technical support, 7 days a week of technical support would be best considering man do-it-yourselfers save these project till the weekend when the majority of companies aren"t in business.
