Manchester is placed in the north west of britain was made a city in 1853. A massive city, it has a population of 452,000, which makes it the 14th most densely populated city in Europe.

The city has 2 major train station, manchester piccadilly and manchester victoria. it is also served by national & local coach & bus services, many of these services leave from the city's chorlton street coach station.

Manchester rose to prominence in the 19th century, when it was at the heart of the industrial revolution. The city was perfect for the textile business as it was rather humid, as well as a good supply of soft water. The city's rivers also generated water power that ran the machinery in the cotton mills. the ready availability of coal & the transportation system of roads & railways also helped it become an industrial centre. because of this, countless cotton mills started springing up throughout the city.

Manchester's cotton mills still remain today, although many of them have been changed into flats & offices. thanks to the 1996 ira bomb that destroyed a lotof the city centre, Manchester also has various modern structures, too.

There are lots of stuff to do in Manchester. From beautiful park spaces to insightful museums, you can't feel bored in this city.

One of the best museums in manchester is URBIS, which is the museum of urban life. The museum has many permanent collections, as well as frequent touring exhibits. recent exhibits have been on gardening & fashion designer matthew williamson.

The city is also a exciting location for lovers of live music, as it has got plenty venues. These include the Night and Day and the ruby lounge, which frequently by local and touring bands.
