A Simple Guide To Install An Effective Security System On A Budget

By:

There are a range of security systems available today which would baffle even the most hardened of thieves. They can combine many technologies such as magnetic locks, hard to pick locks, motion detectors and floodlights.

However, advanced security systems like that could be very expensive and may take extra time to manage effectively.

If you are worried about the security of your home but do not have the resources to buy one, you can devise a security system at a cost of just around twenty dollars. This amount will be allotted for purchasing about four timer devices. Many people may question the effectiveness of this idea. How could a simple timer be used to make an effective security system?

Most burglars operate under the relative safety of darkness and have a natural aversion to well lit areas. This increases the effectiveness of floodlights, especially where those lights come as a result of movement detection.

This would effectively force them to flee the scene of the crime. Even if the intruders were still waiting outside the property, a light being turned on would mean that it could be very risky in their part to execute the intrusion.

This is the idea behind the use of a timer connected to the home lighting system. You can install timers on different locations in your house such as the living room, kitchen, bedroom and attic.

The key is to carefully set the timed intervals up so that you avoid a situation where more than one light is turning on at the same time. If you have a tendency to arrive home late at night you can also use the timer to light the front of the house at around the time of your arrival to increase the safety.

Burglars are wise enough to know about light timers. However, they would not know whether somebody is in the house or a timer had turned on the light. Though this ingenious security procedure may not stop a burglar from entering your home, it can discourage them to consider your property to be a suitable target.

As you can see this setup is quite basic, but in a great majority of cases it will be enough to deter a criminal and is definitely better than having no security at all.
