The very basis outdoor tent is the pulp tent or individual tent. This size tent is intended to house one or two persons at the most. To erect this tent is simple. It usually come in to halves, that have to be snapped or zipped together. Once it is joined together, then the center pole must be inserted in the pre-cut hole to allow it to remain erect. After that, the tent is to be spread out to the length where it is still making contact with the ground in all directions. Steaks or pegs are used to secure the ends of each corner of the tent. After securing the border of the tent, a steak or peg is driven in the ground in line with each corner of the tent to brace it against gust of wind that often test it's stabililty. A front flap is there as an entrance. The front flap usually is tied together or zipped up to give privacy and protection form outside elements.

The next size tent is the General Purpose Tent small size. This tent is erected similar to the Pulp tent, except that is has two or three center poles. Once the center poles are in place, the remainder of the erection is the same. This size tent is intended to house between six to eight persons.

The next size tent is the General Purpose Tent Medium Size. This tent is erected with at least four center poles, and sometimes have other poles located inside the tent at intervals to add support to the sides of the tent. The securing of the sides of the tent is the same method used to secure the other smaller size tents. This size tent is intended to house up to twenty five person.

The next size tent is the General Purpose Tent large size. This is the most challenging of all the outdoor tents to erect. The center pole is large in diameter and tall. Therefore it is sometimes more of a task to install than one person can do alone. Just as with the medium size tent, there are several other support poles beyond the main center pole. This size tent can accomodate more than fifty persons. No matter what the size used outdoor tents give the appearance that it's occupants are true outdoor persons.
