A Serial Cheating Husband's Mind

If you haven't heard of a serial cheater, he is the guy who likes to get into relationships, and continue to cheat. He is the guy will lie and say "I'm exclusive to you baby," and go out that night to pick up girls. What is going through his head?

[More...] There are a few types of serial cheaters. There are the ones who are consciously cheating and the ones who can't control their desires. We'll start by talking about the ones that can't control their desires.

Everybody craves passion and sex. Some more than others, but we all have an internal drive to feel passion. The guy who can't control his desires is essentially addicted to sex. He is a slave to sex. He chases it no matter what the consequences. The bad part about this guy is he wants to be a good person, but he can't because to his addiction to passion and sex.

An example of this is a guy named Jerry. His girlfriend Tina tried to make him exclusive to her. It worked for a while. He was dating only her for about six months. Then the sex and the passion died out in their relationship, like it does in every relationship. However, Jerry was comfortable with her, so he couldn't break up with her. Jerry always liked talking to a girl Samantha at work. As things with Tina started going down hill, Jerry started talking to Samantha more. He just wanted to feel the passion again. Eventually, he started cheating with Samantha. He couldn't control his drive. He tried to be exclusive many times, but every time he ended up finding another woman. He is scared of a relationship.

The next guy is the guy who rationalizes his cheating. He is a guy who knows that what he is doing is wrong, but he doesn't care. He is the kind of guy who will tell his wife that he has stopped cheating, turn around and go onto eHarmony in the same night. He is the guy who knows he's cheating, knows it is wrong, but continues to do it anyways. The root problem is he rationalizes his cheating. He believes it is okay to cheat on his wife.

An example is a serial cheater named Paul. He got into a relationship with a girl named Ashley. While he was dating her, he would go to the bars, find other woman and take them home. Every now and then, Ashley would catch Paul cheating and every time Paul would reassure her that everything is okay. He would say things like "She doesn't matter to me," or "I only kissed her." He never had any intentions of dating only Ashley and continued to cheat on Ashley till she figured out he was a liar and unwilling to be exclusive.
