By:

this article is intended to highlight some benefits in lowering your dairy and lactose intake. This is by no means a definitive guide but a step to you finding more information. There is a large portion of the population that has an allergy to daily, what is more telling is the increase in lactose intolerance, where the body builds up a resistance to digesting lactose and we can all benefit from slightly reducing the quantities of dairy that we consume. Actual sufferers have to out of necessity as they suffer from cramps, bloating, wind and other uncomfortable effects on the digestive system.

Fortunately, smoother digestive health comes easy once tastier substitutions for dairy products are offered. For example, coconut milk, almond milk, and other nut milks are not just substitutions, but are chock full of vitamins, minerals, and Omega-3. Other popular nutritional dairy free drinks are brown rice and soy milk, both of which are sold plain, sweetened, or chocolate flavoured. Other lactose free milks on the market are made from hemp, oats and flax. Each have received favourable reviews, but with the hemp, one should check the sugar content on the label to be sure it doesn't defeat their nutritional needs.

Most dairy free milks can be purchase fat free, sugar free and of course all are lactose free as well. Usually, the most common non dairy milk sold is soy milk, which may be vanilla flavoured with brown rice syrup, or simply plain with no sweeteners added at all. The best drink for reducing inflammation in the body is flax seed milk. With its nutty flavour, most find it quite appetizing. It lowers cholesterol too and supplies much needed fibre in the diet to help with colon health.

Another ingredient to be aware of is added sodium. It should be low as well as the sugar content. Purchasing a product that is as close to nature as possible is the best choice of all. One milk with quite a bit of sugar added is oat milk made from oat bran, but it has a nutty, mild, cream like flavour, is low calorie, fat free and contains necessary fibre as well.

Most Whole Food stores carry nut, soy, hemp, rice and oat milks. All the individual needs to do is read the labels thoroughly to ensure it is as natural as possible in order to be as healthy as it should be. Not only is it important to read labels, name brands really do make a difference in quality and taste. One popular brand may be too sweet, so it need not be purchased again. Another may be too watery and lactose intolerance suffers have enough to deal with.

Everyone has different tastes and preferences so when that one brand is discovered, it soon becomes a fast favourite. Why not stay with it? Because no matter how healthful a dairy free milk is, if it's staying in the cupboard, it's not benefiting health. Fortunately, once that favourite is found, simply shake, open. pour into a glass and drink to your health.
