A Profitable Blog Requires Planning And Commitment

By:

Many people who get started with blogging have a similar dream, that being to be able to create a profitable blog and ultimately give up their day job for a better life. Now this is not unrealistic if you are willing to put in the time to learn about the techniques required to become a successful blogger, but the real key to any type of success online (and that includes blogging) is to have a clear plan of attack and then be prepared to work hard at it!

The unfortunate truth is that in most cases the desire to have a profitable blog is not always aligned with the reality of how long it will actually take to build a collection of loyal readers or in turn how long it will take to turn these loyal readers into customers (whether it be of your own products or those you are promoting). So the truth is that many people who set out to create their own profitable blog ultimately fail for a number of different reasons, not least of all the lack of a plan for creating this profitable blog in the first place.

Obtaining a large audience is a key to succeeding at creating a profitable blog. The higher your traffic, the more advertisers will agree to pay you when they choose to advertise on your blog. However, cultivating the regular visitors that you will need in order to have a profitable blog isn't easy. As more and more blogs appear each day, having a great idea or a wonderful writing style is no longer enough to get attention. You need to be able to market your blog effectively.

Too many bloggers spend all of their time writing posts and almost no time marketing their projects. While updating your blog as often as you can is a great way to keep your blog high on blogrolls and high in blog search engines, such as technorati or other blog tracking sites it doesn't matter how often you update your blog if nobody is reading your pages, so don't skimp on the time that you spend drawing in new visitors. To make your dreams of creating a profitable blog a reality, try decreasing your number of posts and using some of that spare time to entice new visitors by setting up link exchanges with other bloggers, making contacts in the blog community, and following other established systems for winning new traffic.

Of course, even if you are a marketing genius or have a really great idea for a blog, success is not going to happen overnight. Building the kind of readership that a profitable blog requires takes time and energy. To be honest, in all likelihood it will be at least several months before you are able to turn much of a profit so you need to try to stay committed to your blogging project during this initial rough period. To stay motivated, set goals for how often you will update and how many readers you want to attract, and then reward yourself for sticking with your plan.

As I said at the start, the dream of a profitable blog is a realistic one if you are able to put in the time and effort, but the real key to it all is to have a plan for how you are going to update, market and manage your blog in the long run. Only by spending the time to develop this plan will you have a good chance to succeed in creating a profitable blog that will provide you with the benefits you are searching for in the long run.
