A Place Worth Visiting Before We Say Good Bye To Everyone

Not known for its hills is the county of Norfolk, mostly flat, thats peoples impression of the place. An old man said its Lincolnshire, thats the true flat county! I thought Id take a look, try the Google it offers Wikipedia which gives us two hills in Norfolk, the first being:-

Beacon Hill is the highest point in the English county of Norfolk. On the North Norfolk coast At 338ft the hill known as the Roman Camp is now in the care of the National Trust, they maintain it through various donations and membership fees. Beacon Hill is well maintained and a great spot for locals and tourists to enjoy a picnic. Sounds great a Norfolk hill, it may be time to get the walking boots out and do some exploring, after all its almost on the doorstep, of Meadow side Barn Bed and Breakfast in Ridlington, North Norfolk.

This sounds like a good afternoons walk on a dry day, a 9 mile ridge walk, that luckily will be serviced by the Coast Hopper bus so no need for the two cars and the party of people it is needed to make coastal treks viable. Make sure the timetable is accurate and you do not miss the last bus to Norfolk. There is a definite feel of spring about the place and the weather is warming nicely after the long dark winter of the year.

Spring could be the time for art; local studios are willing, for a fee, to provide equipment for a day of landscaping. Nature lovers in spring can get into the countryside with a good camera or binoculars where they are guaranteed a plethora of birds, deer, small mammals and reptiles to keep you enthralled for hours. As dusk falls Owls and Bats are big favorites. So it would be a great fun to watch and photograph.

The summer and fuller foliage mean it is harder to spot the wildlife however the song is there to remind us that it is always present. Walks become stroll since the energy is limited at the end of the day. Autumn is great time for foraging and many local walks and treks can provide a novice with an insight to mushroom gathering, a more experienced gatherer had just to get into Ridlington or Bacton woods to find these gems.

The children can gather Conkers and those fantastic leaves that come in handy for art projects. Or an afternoon with a good kite could be more fun than a long walk. Winter doesnt bring many guests to Barn & Beach but those hardy souls still come and enjoy experiencing nature unclothed. The wildlife is easier to spot and the pub fire more welcoming than ever!
