While many would say that the overall goal of the business is the sale of its product to a great number of consumers, this is only the tip of the iceberg. A successful commercial venture is made or broken based on several factors. While corporations invest heavily in advertisements, research and development, and management, small businesses are often unable to match their larger competitors level of investment into these areas. At the same time, larger commercial ventures are also able to use incentives such as stock-options, bonuses, and retirement accounts to motivate their employees to remain productive. This is particularly true of multilevel marketing operations, where individual commitment and effort are the major factors, which determine a business success or failure. MLM is a marketing strategy, which depends on the salesmans ability to quickly form and capitalize on personal relationships with the prospective customers.

While it is highly unlikely that an MLM-based business will ever be large enough to offer its employees benefits and incentives such as stock options or retirement accounts, there are some tangible benefits such as bonuses, raises, and product-discounts, which can be offered as motivation for employees. This is one of the tasks, which frustrates MLM business leaders and managers. However, software developers and computer corporations have developed a variety of multi level marketing software, which is specifically designed to alleviate much of the frustration that is associated with motivating employees. In conclusion, leaders in the small-business-community can greatly enhance their organizations performances using the MLM strategy and the various types of computer programs to motivate employees to perform. Although the main goal of any business is to sell as many units as possible, it is equally prudent to remember that a happy worker is a productive worker.
