A New World: Watching "game Of Thrones" On Satellite Tv

Epic battles, family feuds, and mystical creatures. It sounds like the realm of those who would prefer to throw some 12-sided dice and maybe unwind with a repeat viewing of "Lord of the Rings." But the fact of the matter is that there's a lot more to the world of the latest adventure saga to win a crossover audience than mere fantasy and adventure. And despite being based on an epic series of books and launching a game version, the latest smash hit from HBO is a lot more than a way for geeks to unwind.

Sure, those satellite TV fans who were already salivating at the thought of "Game of Thrones" will be absolutely tickled to finally digest the first season, episode by episode, if they've been waiting for some reason. But there's a lot more to things than simply appealing to those who already were familiar with the content. Anyone looking for solid plotlines, heartbreaking twists, strong characters, and stunning scenery will be won over. The stories of families trying to do their best, fighting against impossible odds and attempting to help one another, are definitely epic in nature. It's a saga set in the mediaeval times, but it could be dealing with the kinds of problems that still plague people today. And of course, satellite tv viewers who are drawn to HBO expect a certain caliber of writing that, fortunately, more than happens here time and time again.

The new series focuses on twists between two main families, one whom currently holds the crown to seven mythical nations, and one from the north whose members try to be honor and responsible, but who end up standing between the other family and their incessant greed. With twists too complicated to outline, for fear of giving away the plot, viewers can expect to jump between multiple shorelines, see stunning images best experienced in HDTV of mystical lands (Ireland and Morocco both look great here dressed up as foreign locales), and plenty of action for all palates. Whether it's a sub-plot involving honor and protection for the good of the country or the chance to see a young tomboy learn to fight thanks to her father, the king who gives her swordsman lessons under the guise of "dance classes," this show is less about gigantic creatures and more about the struggles and dramas that happen, regardless of if a world is factual or fictional.

Of course, satellite tv viewers who want more action will not be disappointed either, from battle scenes to endless bloody depictions of what life really was like when skinning animals was part of daily life and honorable kings handled their own death sentences. And for someone who is trying to figure out what could possibly be enjoyed with all members of the family old enough to handle that kind of violence, "Game of Thrones" is the show. It's about nepotism, cunning, and plenty of other ideas of today, only set in a different time. And that, somehow, makes it even more compelling to view, whether those watching are intrigued by white walkers and dragons or not.
