A New Season Of Glee On Satellite Tv

By:

With the recent satellite TV showing of the latest episode of Glee, the Fox networks second season hit program about a high school Glee club, the reviews, as always are mixed. Lately it would seem that audiences that loved the just a notch up from plausibility of the first season of the program are finding this seasons antics, guest stars and themed episodes just a little too out there for their tastes. The latest victim to an onslaught of criticism has been the shows recent Rocky Horror episode. Themed around the over-sexed, ground breaking, seventies science fiction musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the episode followed the characters through a usual plot line involving a love triangle between the clubs director, the school guidance counselor, and an area dentist and the boyfriend of the guidance counselor, Carl. While the show sticks to its usual on the surface plot schemes and guest star character arcs, it would seem audiences are crying out for more. More depth to the characters, deeper explanations of the relationships between characters, and better insights into their motivations have all been asked of the award-winning writers.

What, the question is then, would make fans think the show should depart from its tried and true formula of staying on the surface? In essence, many are criticizing the program for doing what it has always done, centered around the music and not the storyline. Many say that since the Power of Madonna episode things have been going off in the wrong direction, but the statistics stating that this the top rated show on television would disagree. In a world of high definition spectaculars and special effects, Glee seems to be sweeping the ratings nonetheless, and theres no way all of that is pure curiosity as to what theyll do next.

Is the show a cash cow and marketing machine? Of course! But, honestly, name one show on television that isnt. Those who want truly indie feel-good musical comedy should probably not count on Fox TV for their fix! Those who feel surprised that Mr. Shue is a self-centered male instead of the angelically good show choir director in the second season should stop looking for someone to look up to in a television sitcom. Those who think that Rachel Berry should show character progression should probably think about their own high school peers and whether their personalities ever drastically changed. The show is, in essence, the reversal of the cartoon-ization of adult comedic material. This show is taking those cartoon personalities which, in essence, do not learn from their previous actions or mistakes on other episodes, and act out their own whims and desires against one another. While this might not make for the next Lost in terms of plot depth, remember that even the best intentions can lead to wishy-washy finales and lots of loose ends! For now satellite TV viewers are encouraged to turn on their HD TVs and enjoy Glee as the feel-good, fun comedy it is, and safe deep analysis for issues that really matter.
