The game was created by Nintendo for the NES or the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1985. It was the sequel to the 1983 game from the same company called Mario Bros. In this game, the main player is the one who controls Mario as he tries to rescue Princess Toadstool around the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser, the antagonist of the game. This game can also be played by two persons. The second player would control Luigi, Marios brother.

The game developed by Nintendo for NES, before it was outsold by the same companys Wii Sports in the year 2009, was touted then as the best-selling video game of all time. It was so popular in the not so distant past that it sold 40 million copies and more worldwide. The game made the NES successful to gamers around the United States after the event in 1983 called the video game crash.

After having been created, the games in the Mario series spawned even more sequels. There were games created for the limited Nintendo 64 consoles as well as those for the recently released Wii.
The designers of the game include Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. Meanwhile Koji Kondo composed music for the game. The video game music for the game is still, as of today, the platform for typical video game music.
In the year 2010, the company celebrated the Mario series 25th anniversary where they released variants of the game for the Wii and the Nintendo DSi XL consoles. They were Mario-themed and in limited editions released in all regions of the world.

The game is still much loved by kids today. Those whove had the older version would feel nostalgic as this has challenged all other game creators to come out with their own Mario Bros.-like games. Indeed the Mario Bros. games from Nintendo has ushered in the era of game consoles as a lot of companies catering to these console gamers have come out with their own. An example of this would be Sony and their Playstation line.

The Mario Bros. series is an easy game to play. This is what makes it a favorite of a lot of kids and adults alike. Its not only easy but its fun to play as well.
When played solo, the player can only control Mario. He can move Mario left, right and try to make him jump using the controls or the arrowheads on the NES controller. Mario is made to jump over the Goombas, mushroom-like soldiers who serve Bowser, to flatten them at the beginning of the game. Now Mario travels through the Mushroom Kingdom using these controls and even some attacks, gathering coins along the way, until he can reach where Bowser has Princess Toadstool hostage.
Bowser is much like his Koopa Troopas who are turtles that can hide in their shells to avoid attacks. Hes just bigger than the Koopa Troopas and therefore is scarier.

The game is so much fun to play with that it continues to sell no matter how old it may seem today. Super Mario may be quite an old game but more and more are still drawn to the vintage game that is Super Mario. Z
