The home PC has now become a familiar fixture in most homes and has been made even more commonplace as many people look upon home broadband internet as being as essential as running water and electricity in their homes. As technology has progressed it is now the case that when you go to the shops to purchase a PC you are able to choose between a desktop PC or a laptop PC. They are both incredibly popular and despite being created later than the desktop PC the number of laptop users has also started to increase to competitive levels compared to the desktop.

The key deciding factor for many people when buying a home computer is whether to buy a laptop or a desktop. Desktops have been considered the cheaper, more powerful option but many modern laptops are becoming more affordable and have components that rival the latest desktop parts including ultra fast processors, dedicated graphics capabilities and larger capacity hard drives but still being held within a small, portable shell.

The desktop PC is still popular, despite the latest laptops getting plenty of praise for their looks and deceiving power. Desktop PCs are also being made smaller to make sure placing the computer in the home isnt restricted like it may have been in the past. Previously desktop PCs were condemned to a home study, office or bedroom and thanks to unimaginative beige design choices many people will have been only too glad to hide their PCs away out of sight.

Fortunately for both types of computer, style and looks are now a major concern for PC manufacturers meaning that most modern PCs are much sleeker and attractive meaning that most home computers can be shown off with pride and with many newer models such as tablet PCs and all in one computers there are no trailing wires and cables or additional parts to worry about cluttering up a desk or table.

Many people will choose a laptop for work as it allows them to use their computer whilst they are in work, take it home with them at the end of the day and even use them on the train if they need to respond to any emails urgently or get urgent work done in a hurry.

Laptops are not just used for this anymore though, many homeowners will buy a laptop computer that can be used by the whole family, and possibly even more than one as every member of the family will be fairly switched on when it comes to computers these days. A portable laptop that can be used in any room in the house and stored away neatly when not in use is the perfect solution when you dont want to clutter up your home.
