A How-to Guide For A Night In Enjoying A Family Film

By:

Having a family movie night is one of the most fun bonding things you can do. Most kids will appreciate having time spent with you and it can be a fun way for busy families to reconnect. There are a variety of ways that you can do it, but sometimes just having one night a week that everyone can get together with snacks and a great film is a wonderful way to bring everyone together.

Here we are going to go into some of the best ways to find family films so that you can get everyone together and have a great time. Whether you're into the next big family film, or a classic from decades past, you can find something that your family is sure to love.

Try themes. Some families will set a theme for the month. Consider all the great series that have come out and think about what might appeal to your family the most. For instance, during the holiday season, holiday films might be perfect, or perhaps consider everyone getting together and coming up with a list of themes to draw from at random. Other families find it very useful to take a vote to see what movies to view each week. One great idea that we've seen was a family that combined game night with movie choosing - winner of game night got to choose the movie for the week.

Consider your family age groups. When you're thinking about movies that you'd like to watch, consider the age groups. If you have younger and older children, you can always pick a younger, child-friendly movie for the first viewing. Once the younger ones go to bed, pick a flick that suits your older children better.

Save money and purchase a used DVD. If you're looking to pick out a newer release, consider choosing from Second Spins used DVD website. This site has a great deal of variety that you can easily scroll through to find what you are looking for, or just browse to see what appeals. You really cannot go wrong with the latest animated movies. So many of them are now geared towards appealing to all ages, so these will work out well.

Consider providing snacks that appeal to your family. You can make them the old movie theatre classics or you can use your own healthful spin, but set everything up and really make a night of it each week. The time spent watching family films with your kids will definitely be a memory in the making.
