A Healthy Fast Diet - Can It Prevent Cancer?

By:

Ask most people what they want and it's this... A fast diet to make them thinner and good health... Okay, they'd also like a lottery win, to give up work and have plenty of exotic holidays... But being thin and healthy is pretty important to most people.

Is it possible that some foods have weight loss and health giving properties? And could they also help prevent people becoming victims of the scourge of cancer or diabetes?

It's claimed that such foods exist. Science has shown some foods to have the ability to promote health and help to prevent disease.

Research published recently claims that certain foods included in a healthy diet and other foods being eliminated can offer protection against breast cancer and also encourage fast diet weight loss. They are very powerful foods...

Most families have been hit by the loss of loved ones to cancer. Anything that can assist in the prevention of this disease could help ourselves and our families. Following the scientific advice could benefit a great number of people.

What does the research say we should do?

Well, some of the data is what we already are aware of... Use olive oil, eat dark coloured fruit and vegetables and whole grains to help prevent breast cancer. So, the usual advice to eat plenty of veg, at least 4 servings per day, 3 servings of fruit remembering that one serving isn't very much - 1 apple, 17 grapes, 1/2 banana, 1 orange, 3 prunes. Not a lot really...

A major part of the anti breast cancer diet is whole grains and 6 to 7 portions a day is advised in the form of bread (1 slice), 1 pitta, 1/2 a bagel, breakfast cereal, uncooked rice/pasta (25g/1oz) or potatoes (3oz/75g).

Four to five servings of fat (1 serving = 1 tablespoon) is advised each day with olive oil being 3 of those servings. Other servings could come from two tablespoons of nuts/sunflower seeds/pine nuts, one tablespoon of peanut butter, one quarter of an avocado or four ounces of stoned olives.

The research adds that two servings per day of dairy products should be included in your anti breast cancer diet. One serving counts 1cup/225ml skimmed milk, one large egg, 1oz/25g hard cheese, 4oz/100g cottage cheese or 1/2 cup/125 ml yoghurt.

The diet suggest a great reduction in the volume of meat eaten each week. Just 12oz of white meat or fish should be eaten and only 6oz of red meat each month. The red meat would replace the equivalent amount of white meat/fish allowance. The meat consumption recommended is far less than the amounts eaten by most people.
