A Healthy And Fit Body By Contolling Your Portion Size

We, as humans eat way too much these days and this is due to the fact that we do not know how to control the portions of food that we eat. Vegetables and fruits are something not many of us eat, as we prefer those cakes and pizzas although you can still control your portions with these fatty foods and have an acceptable waist.

Food is not scarce in many countries causing us to eat so much so that our bodies adapt to the portions we eat assuring that smaller portions will not satisfy us. When you go to a restaurant, the portions are very big which is exactly what we eat at home as well. Because of the fact that we are so used to big portions and pay for it in the restaurant we will not stop until everything on the plate is finished.

That means no matter how big the meal is, or how many extra fries they gave us with that burger, we are going to eat all of it even if we feel full halfway through. Of course most of us don't feel full until after we finish because I have heard that it takes your body 20 minutes to register that you are full.

What is the one thing that we can do about this situation? Well first of all we need to get rid of the mentality that we need to eat everything that is put in front of us. I know it might seem rude when at a friend's house, or silly if you have paid for it all, but eating more than your body needs is just waste and it is going to go straight into your body as excess calories.

Leave a little bit of food on your plate with every meal, which is going to get you into the habit of not overeating every time you eat. It will be difficult at first, but over time you will get used to it and everybody you are with will get used to it as well, then you have broken the cycle and won't feel compelled to eat everything all the time. If someone gives you a plate of food that is too big for you, set aside the amount that you think you will not eat and only eat until you feel satisfied.

When you are the cook of the house you should slowly dish up less for yourself and you will soon realize that the smaller amounts fill you up just as much as the bigger portions. By continuing with this you will be able to loose weight without having to starve yourself or worry about all the ideas society is trying to put in our minds about not leaving food on a plate.
