Located just south of Bee Cave Road, the Rob Roy community is one of the largest in the Austin area. With the original community being located between 360 and Bee Caves Road, the community ultimately expanded into six distinct neighborhoods. Therefore, those who are interested in being part of the community are sure to find the right neighborhood to suit their lifestyle as well as their budget.

The original part of the community is known as the neighborhood that almost never was, as the city of Austin and several environmentalists groups were opposed to its development. Eventually, the developers obtained the approval that was necessary to create this upscale neighborhood. Over time, the community evolved to include five additional neighborhoods. In addition to the original neighborhood, the community now also includes Rob Roy on the Canyon, Rob Roy on the Lake, Rob Roy on the Creek, Rob Roy Rim and Rob Roy West.

Regardless of the neighborhood, every neighborhood within the community features homes that typically range in size from 2500 square feet to 6000 square feet. Some of the features that are commonly found within the homes in the neighborhood include estate-sized lots, guest suites, large outdoor living areas and even backyard waterfalls. Despite all of the amenities the community has to offer, homes are available in the area for less than $700,000. At the same time, there are homes in the neighborhood with price tags of well over $2,000,000.

Residents of the Rob Roy community also enjoy easy access to a number of outdoor activities. With Lake Austin located so nearby, residents regularly enjoy waterskiing, sailing, fishing, swimming and other water activities. With the scenic Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve located near to the community, residents may also participate in wildlife viewing, hiking and many other outdoor activities.

With the capital city of Austin located near the neighborhood, residents don't have to go far to take advantage of all the city has to offer. From excellent dining and shopping opportunities to an active nightlife and plenty of performance venues, there is something for everyone in Austin. Residents also enjoy an easy commute to the many employment opportunities the capital city has to offer. The Overlook, which is a Class A office development, is also located within the community. Here, local professionals enjoy numerous employment opportunities within a state-of-the-art work environment.

As part of the Eanes Independent School District, children who live in the community are guaranteed an excellent education. In fact, the Eanes Independent School is widely considered to be one of the best school districts in the state of Texas. Elementary-aged children attend either Barton Creek Elementary School, Bridge Point Elementary School or Forest Trail Elementary School, while middle school students attend West Ridge Middle School and high school students attend Westlake High School. The St. Stephen's Episcopal School, which is a highly-regarded preparatory school for grades six through twelve, is also located in the neighborhood.
