A Guide To Mens Swim Suits

By:

There are as many different type of swimsuits as there are activities you can do in the water. If you are in a racing competition you will want to wear a Speedo, maybe even a full body Speedo if they are allowed. In they are not allowed, when wearing just a simple Speedo then you will probably want to remove all the hair from your body that may slow you down in the water. The full body Speedo has not reached all the levels of swimming competition but it seems destined to achieve that. It does seem to give a slight advantage.

Michael Phelps won one of his Olympics swimming race by a mere fractions of 1/100th of a second, so every advantage counts if you are in a serious competition with strong competitors. You complete the preferred racing standard wear with a tight fitting swim cap and a pair of well-fitted swim goggles and your off on your way to becoming the next Michael Phelps.

If you are planning on going wind-boarding or wake-running, what you wear depends on the temperature of the water you will be experiencing. In water that is very cold say 35F to 43F you will experience hypothermia, which is when the body temperature drops so much it ceases to function, in less than an hour without protective clothing, so the type of swimsuit you wear to participate in those sports is really a type of wet-suit made from neoprene or similar materials that are also used to make the suits for skin and scuba divers.

Neoprene does not stretch so it is important to get a suit that fits you properly and allows for enough mobility to not interfere with your enjoyment of the sport. A good quality one will not let any water in at the seams. There are winter suits that run typically all the way down to the ankles with long sleeves and there are summer suits that have short sleeves and are like short pants. These summer suits can be used anywhere if the water is warm enough to use them and still stay comfortable. It is not the outside air temperature that matters, what is more important is the temperature of the water.

The same goes for surfing. If you happen to be surfing in warm water where you don't need a wet suit, then you can wear surfer's trunks which are made from cotton, cotton blends, rayon or nylon. They are loosely or baggy fitting, but tied tightly around the waist so they don't fall off. They have legs that come down to just above the knees. These surfer's trunks are very popular in the beaches of California, Florida, and Hawaii as well as elsewhere in the world. They can be simple solid colors with the highlight of a diagonal stripe or they can be outlandish Hawaiian flower prints. It is a matter of individual choice. In warmer areas of the world at the beach towns, most guys don't wear anything but these and some sandals all summer long.
