A Guide To Late Availability Bookings

By:

One has to hand it to the great English weather. Just a few weeks ago we were knee deep in snow. Now spring has definitely sprung. The unexpected heat wave has had many people scrambling around searching for late availability deals in England as they hope to grab a late break. The good news is there are plenty available.

A combination of two things means pubs and hotels around the country are willing to offer good deals in order to get people through the door. First of all hostelries around the country have been hit hard over the last two years. The Chancellor's 10 per cent hike on cider, announced in yesterday's budget is just the latest in a series of taxation measures that make it very difficult for pub owners to do business. At the same time, more people are staying at home as they seek to conserve their finances.

There is every hope that the situation will change in the medium and long term. The recovery seems to be gaining pace and with a little luck the next 24 months could be much better than the last. However, for the time being businesses need to survive and they can do this by using late availability deals to encourage short term custom.

From the consumer's perspective this is great news. At a time when businesses are in need of custom, their bargaining position is much improved. As such with a little amount of work and research there are some good deals to be had.

The main areas likely to benefit from late availability deals are those close to major cities. Places such as Norfolk, which is in reach of London, or the Peak District will be an attractive easily reachable destination. However, hotels and inns, as far away as the North of Scotland are also willing to work hard to bring in business from down south.

This can offer a fantastic option. Simply catch an overnight train from London and you could be in the Highlands in a matter of hours. It's an option many people might not think about, but if you're looking to get away from it all, then you surely can't do better than that.

The number of late availability deals means there is unlikely to be a better time this year to take that much-needed break. There is no better time to visit the British countryside than spring, so make the most of it while you can.
