A Guide To Greek Island Yacht Charter Holidays

By:

Sometimes taking a short break on a beach just is not enough to really feel revived and get that time to really recharge your batteries. People with experience in yacht chartering will feel that taking a sailing trip around the Mediterranean coast is just as relaxing as taking a trip to the beach. However, for people who have never chartered their own yachts will need to have taken part in a small training course or opt to travel with someone experienced.

For a good experience in Greek Island yacht charter holiday a beginner should look into what kind of a yacht they want to charter and if they indeed can charter a boat. Unless you are competent in chartering your own yacht your best choice is to go for a skippered boat rather than a bareboat journey. If you are qualified this means that you have a certificate to present to the Port Authorities in Greece as proof of your qualification.

Those that are qualified can be free to hire a bareboat yacht, provided they are willing to take on the responsibility of looking after a yacht. Some qualified sailors prefer to hire a skipper so as to relieve them of some of the responsibility of chartering a yacht. Furthermore, a skipper may know more about the island than you and can often suggest places that you may have never even heard of, making them extremely useful in keeping your holiday as enjoyable as possible.

Those who are competent in a Greek island yacht charter holiday may feel comfortable with a skippered yacht. This is still better than travelling on yacht where you are unsure of the foreign waters. Quite often one can also opt for a yacht skippered by the owner. This is usually taking part on a large yacht that holds over four cabins. The advantage of this is that chances are the yacht will come with a skipper and a crew, making your trip ever more relaxing.

A Bareboat yacht charter will not have a crew and will not be skippered, therefore you must be at least confident enough to do this on your own or with the help of others who plan to travel with you. By far this is the best way to sail around the Greek islands as you have complete freedom as to where you want to travel to and can stop at any point of the trip. Furthermore it gives you the opportunity to discover the island yourself, navigate your way around and take in the scenery without being tied down to a time limit.
