A Guide To Funeral Urns - How To Choose The Right Size, Finish, And Design

When someone you love passes, you will want to memorialize him or her in the best way possible. More and more people are starting to choose cremation over burial. If your loved one wants to be cremated, then it's essential that you choose the most beautiful urn you can find. They can be simple, elegant, old-fashioned, or even modern. They can have simple designs or intricate designs.

When choosing funeral urns, you need to determine which size you need. The measurement is done in cubic inches. Take the weight of the deceased and convert it into inches. If he or she weighed 150 pounds, then you will need an urn measurement of 150 CI of space. The urn should be more than large enough to store all of the ashes. For every 100 pounds, there will be approximately 90 CI of ashes. It's better to order something a bit larger than what is needed just to be on the safe side.

After determining the size, you will need to choose the design of the vessel. There are a variety of colors and styles from which you can choose. Some are ideal for indoor memorials and some for outdoors. If you want to bury your loved one after he or she is cremated, you will need to shop for a burial urn.

Burial urns are made out of materials such as metal, marble, bronze, or hard woods. Wood won't last as long as the other materials, but since it is a renewable resource, some people consider it to be a natural option. Just as the wood returns to the earth, where it will be renewed, it symbolizes rebirth. In some cultures, it's the perfect choice for a burial urn.

Porcelain and glass urns are ideal for indoor memorials. If you want to keep your loved one inside of a vault or a home, you need to choose a beautiful indoor urn. They can be as simple or as decorative as you want them to be. Just be sure to keep the urn in a safe place where it won't be scratched or chipped.

Another popular choice is bronze. This is the traditional choice, and has been used in many cultures for centuries. The earliest bronze urns date back to 1500 BC, and are being unearthed to this day. Bronze is the best choice if you want the memorial to last forever. They can be adorned with a number of finishes. You can have your loved one's image and name engraved or enameled on it. Be sure to order from a reputable company that has the latest laser technology.

In addition to the materials used to make the vessels, you also need to decide on a design. Here are just a few examples of the many types of urns available:

Military and patriotic
Cowboy and western
Animal designs
Sports motifs and team logos
Police and firefighter
Angels and celestial designs
Urns with picture frames

For an infant or a child, you can choose a huggable teddy bear holding the urn in its hands. That way, the child will be "held" by the teddy bear forever.

You could also choose an angel instead of a teddy bear. Many urns are designed as angel figurines. Placing the remains inside of it would symbolize that your loved one is now being taken care of by angels.
