Citroen have been making the Berlingo since 1996, available as either a panel van or leisure vehicle, and available on the used car market in two different phase models. Pre 2008 was the phase 1 models and then post 2008 it became the Berlingo Multispace or Nemo.

Launched in 1996 it shared the chassis and looked very similar to its PSA Group sister model the Peugeot Partner. Revisions were then made in 2002, where they redesigned the front of the Citroen Berlingo and also the interior. Previous models came in a range of engines, starting from 1.4 L up to 2.0 L, and came in a choice of Petrol, diesel, electric and CNG.

The electric version is battery powered with a motor provided by Venturi Electric.

In 2008 further revisions were made and the Berlingo then became the Nemo and the Multispace. With these changes also came an engine change and was then only available in a choice of 2 petrol 1.6L 16v or 3 diesel 1.6HDi 16v, all with different PS/horsepower.

The used Citroen Berlingo Multispace is hugely practical, and has an extremely spacious cabin. The diesel engines are extremely economical, and it is bursting with family friendly features. It is easily the first choice of used car or used Citroen for buyers looking for a 5 seat people carrier on a budget.

With the new model now being based on the underpinnings of a car not a van, it is even more comfortable and even better to drive. Diesel is the best choice of the engines in the used Citroen, as has a great level of power and MPG.

Also in the newer models, they have given the suspension more sophisticated set up enabling better cornering and giving a much more comfortable ride quality, with more composed cornering and more direct and responsive steering.

Inside the used Citroen Berlingo Multispace, it has a light and airy feeling even when not choosing to have the option of the glass panel roof. There is ample space for 5 adults to travel long distance in comfort, and as always with the used Citroens, the exterior and road news is low, due to them always having excellent insulation.

When it comes to practicality the Citroen Berlingo Multispace is incredibly versatile and useful, not only do the rear passenger seats fold down flat, they can also be completely removed from the Citroen resulting in a massive volume of 3000 Litres of load space. Another added bonus is that the rear passenger doors slide open making access and loading easier, and again as with many of the newer Citroens, the boot light doubles up as a rechargeable and fully removable torch!

Buyers can also choose to have the option to have the split opening tailgate with an independent opening electric window.

The high seats not only make access easy, but give you excellent visibility while driving the Citroen Berlingo Multispace. The controls are chunky and hard wearing, giving it a real feel of quality throughout.

So, if you enjoy the great outdoors, or just like a great robust, functional, spacious, value for money people carrier, then I think that the used Citroen Berlingo Multispace should be your first choice. They are easy to find on the used car market, with a whole range of model and specification available, and are very well priced!
