Life is made of little things that can bring a smile on your face or turn it into a frown. For example, caught off guard in rain when you were on your way to a party, all dressed up while waiting for a bus is sure to ruin your day. On the other hand, imagine seeing a warm looking shelter right in front of you that says bus stop on the outside but is anything but your regular bus stop- it will definitely bring a smile on your face. The recent change in the trend has turned the conventional boring bus stops that every one almost cringes to look at into something that is almost inviting. It's not a surprise to see a bus stop that will offer you a drinks machine or place to rest your feet for a bit or even a swing hanging idly from the top. This is human creativity at its best that has taken a regular bus stop and converted it into a bus shelter. You can find so many variations with this single category of bus shelters that it's hard to put them all together.

Bus shelters are basically just a modernized version of a regular bus stop, but much more comfortable and a lot more stylish. It can be anything ranging from a lone structure made from scrap metal, erected in middle of a street where earlier stood a lonely sign saying bus stop or complete construction, a full bus station that offers you everything from air conditioning to a place to plug in your i-pod and enjoy music while you wait comfortably for your bus. Though their main focus is to put need and comfort together, bus shelters are not about comfort and style alone. Recently, many bus shelters have been constructed which are fully powered using solar energy. There solar energy powered structures are not only super comfortable and convenient but also kind of an encouragement to save energy when you think about all the carbon free power production. Okay, this might be taking it a bit far but the fact that these structures allow you to wait comfortably and do lots of other things that are definitely not expected to be found at a bus stop without harming the environment is certainly an idea to be applauded.

In recent past, these bus shelters have transcended all the boundaries of conventionality and the world has seen some rather extra ordinary bus stops. The idea behind them is to take the monotony out of regular bus stops and give you something much better. So don't be surprised when you find a bus shelter that has a swing for a seat and a grass covered flat surface for a ceiling- it is just one of those ultra modern bus shelters.
