A Goth Bedroom For A Goth Teen

Goth is a popular theme for the more individualistic teens. If you have a teenager who is itching to transform his room into a Goth paradise, be armed with these decorating tips in order to better help your teen achieve his dream bedroom.

Incorporating elements from the more traditional gothic style may include architectural modifications and layered accessories. But don't go overboard and have a room of absolute depression and horror. Take into account that the rest of the family, who may not be Goth-inclined, will visit the room as well. Try to make it as welcoming as possible for everyone.

Goth is about black - in fashion, cosmetics and decors. You can spice it up a bit by injecting other deep shades like purple, violet or red. Decorate the walls with more than just dark paint by doing some creative artworks depicting the Gothic life. Paint stone blocks, faux stones, medieval castles, bricks and such for a more interesting design.

A shag rug in a dark color will also add appeal and Goth to the room. Black, rich brown or deep purple are good color choices. Even if the room already has wall-to-wall carpeting, an area rug will still complement the decor nicely.

For the bed, a wrought iron one or wooden four poster bed is perfect. Ensure though that the woods you use are on the darker side. Accent the bed with beddings in dark colors, such as deep purple bed sheets and pillow covers to go with the rest of the room.

Accessorizing is the most fun in this decorating project. You guys can really let your imagination run wild. Gargoyles, columns and arches, coffins, table with wrought iron legs, faux iron for lamps, skulls, crucifixes, artworks and vampire pictures are just some of the decorations that you can use for a Goth design.

Remember not to make the modifications to her room too permanent because your Goth teen is likely to grow out of the whole gothic phase eventually. Ensure that when the time comes, you should be able to change back without incurring too much cost.
