A professional or an experienced individual who has extraordinary skills about business management is called a Business Consultant. For any industry like real estate or any other business venture who wants to maximize its profits and success, the services of a consultant plays an important role. He may assist the clients/businesses in the different fields like starting-up/structuring business, management, marketing and advertising, accounting, human resources and more. He provides greater objectivity, necessary knowledge and innovative approach in the business. The consultants contribution therefore, can be defined as filling specific skills, knowledge and experience needed by the client to address the problem and formulate a solution and sometimes change the entire direction of a company.

The primary responsibility of a business consultant is to analyze, plan, implement and evaluate business/projects. He works with clients to learn about the business, and to identify the problems, project targets, as well as clients goals and expectations. Then he meets his teammates and leaders to conduct discussions in order to have the best solution, as well as to identify future opportunities. He performs analysis, extensive research on business and market trends, carries out data collection, and prepares business proposals and presentations. Lastly, the consultant provides solutions by presenting his findings and recommendations in implementing new practices and strategies to enhance business performance and increase business opportunities.

But what are the skills and qualities of what they called a good business consultant? A good consultant must have good analytical skills, effective problem solving skills and excellent oral and written communication skills for he may spend a lot of time in meetings, talking to managers, CEOs and business owners of small to large businesses. He must be capable of building strong client relationships and must be a confident individual for he will be dealing with different types of clients. A good consultant is also good in the documentation of business requirements, analysis, and function. He must be knowledgeable about computer operations and programs for he may spend a lot of time in front of the computer looking at data and numbers to analyze any issues in the company's system. He must be updated to current technologies as sometimes certain technology can also be use into the overall success of the project. Aside from that, a good consultant must have strong presentation skills and has the ability to prioritize and multi-task. He must be versatile and flexible for he may work long hours due to companies different working hours and working conditions.

Finally, a good business consultant has the experience of working in a broad range of businesses and different types of industries. He must experience working in all stages of a companys growth which are existence, survival, success, take-off and maturity. He has solid, real, and longer years of experience in running and in the financing of companies as well as in the marketing and sales. What make a consultant good and valuable are his accumulated business history and his broad experience in helping companies who are struggling to renew itself (like identifying new opportunities to exploit and develop new venture or project) and succeed again.
