All are very much aware of the custom and culture the African continent is honored for. In addition Africa is also renowned for its flora and fauna. Many people are unaware of the fact that Africa is also the land of the most lethal snakes ever. Let's have a look at some of the venomous breeds of snakes as present in the dark continent.

Talk about lethal snake breeds in Africa and Black Mamba tops the list. This is one of the largest snakes in Africa. The average length of this snake breed is close to eight feet. However, there are a few that can be as long as fourteen feet. Brownish gray in color, this snake is intensely assertive. It does not hesitate to strike and can reach the velocity of 12 mph in a matter of a few seconds. This snake is capable of destroying more than a dozen men in as less as 1 hour. Little wonder, it makes for the most feared snake breeds across the continent.

As well as black mamba, another snake which is high on the savagery level is Egyptian Cobra. Essentially this snake breed belongs to the land of Egypt. However, this breed of snake can be easily found in Africa on an especially huge scale. Another name of this type of snake is Naje Haje. It has been observed that out of all the strains of cobra, this breed is the most toxic. Though this snake has an average length of only about one to two meters, it can easily destroy anyone. It can really simply kill a massive elephant in a matter of three hours or less with the help of its toxic poison.

Adding to the list of perilous snakes of Africa is another name which is well known as Puff Adder. This snake breed as found in Africa is the most known for its biting capacities. It has a past history of the largest number of bites contrast to other snakes. This sort of snake can simply hide itself in the surroundings by camouflaging well. This raises the chance of people accidentally stepping on the snake. The net result's that they get bitten in return. This snake breed attacks generally from the sides. It is capable of spewing massive amount of cytotoxic venom in one single attempt. It customarily injects anywhere between 100 to 350 mg of this venom. This is very troubling as an amount as beside the point as one hundred mg has the prospects of slaughtering a homo sapien in one split second.

Aside from the Puff Adder, there are a few other snake breeds that prove to be quite deadly due to their camouflage properties. The Gabbon Vipper is one of them. It blends completely with the surrounding vegetation and the leaf cover. Due to the glorious camoflauge, it becomes tough to spot this snake breed. This snake breed is known to have the longest fangs in the world. The fangs of this snake are known to have a record length of 55 mm.

And last but not least, the Boomslang snake from sub Saharan Africa is another extremely threatening inhabitant of the continent. This particular snake breed is one of the most toxic rear fanged snakes in the world. Unlike many other snakes which live on the ground, the Boomslang dwell on trees. It has amazingly long fangs and can open its mouth to a full 180 degrees to bite.

Therefore , if you are heading to Africa, do not forget to steer clear of these species or at least be adequately prepared to meet them there.
