A First-class Online Medical Transcription Course

My reasons for wanting to become a MT are varied. I have worked for many years as a secretary/office manager in various disciplines including health care. I have experience taking dictation and think that expanding on that knowledge and skill would be beneficial. I have spent many years working in an office and would now like to use that experience to work from my home office and have that independence. That flexibility would allow me more time to spend with family and offer some help to them where needed. While my family is grown, there are some needs that they have right now that demand some of my time and attention - a daughter going through a difficult time in her marriage with a husband's illness as one example. (She is an RN which has also increased my interest in the medical field.) I took advantage of an early retirement incentive from my long time job and quickly decided that I was not ready to be retired. I have been looking for something such as this type of work that would allow me to develop new skills, but also to supplement that income that I am receiving from this incentive.

After looking into medical transcription schools and reading all of the information available on the Future MT website, it appears to me to be a very comprehensive online medical transcription course that covers the needed aspects of training to become an MT. A portion of my past experience included working in the Medical records department of a hospital. While I was not a transcriptionist, I did observe the duties and functions of a medical records worker and it appealed to me as something I would like to do. I realize how critical accuracy can be in taking care of patients' records. I have always prided myself on my ability to be accurate and also on my spelling and grammar skills which are excellent. I also know about the confidentiality involved in this type of work. Almost every job that I have held in my lifetime has involved confidentiality and I have no problems keeping that privacy. My goal as a Future MT student would, of course, first off be to find employment as an MT. After gaining the experience as a transcriptionist, I would be interested in whatever advancement might become available to me. I know that there are many jobs available and my next area of interest in this field would be to become an auditor or proofreader for other online transcriptionists. I have several years of management experience and feel qualified to advance to any managerial or supervisory positions that might become available while still being able to work from my home office. At some point, I might also be interested in training others if that opportunity became available. In summary, I love learning and I learn fast. I am very computer literate and enjoy computer work and online experiences. I have earned an associate degree utilizing mostly online learning which I thoroughly enjoyed.
