A Few Ways To Effectively Fight Plaque

By:

Plaque is a colorless, sticky bacteria that forms on the teeth and gums. When we don't properly care for our teeth plaque can build up. Cavities actually form when acid from plaque breaks down the enamel on the teeth. From time to time it might be normal to notice some plaque on the teeth, but when it is not removed in a timely manner it can harden into tartar. Tartar can only be scraped off with a special instrument by a dentist. Plaque build up can cause gingivitis which is inflammation of the gums. Common signs are red, tender, bleeding gums. If left untreated gingivitis can develop into periodontist disease which affects the teeth and jaw muscles. Follow my simple solutions and plaque will not stand a chance on your teeth!

Brush your teeth twice a day or after each meal. One full minute of thorough brushing should get rid of any bacteria in the mouth. Always floss regularly or each morning and night. Plaque is always reproducing and night time is the best time. When you sleep your mouth doesn't produce as much saliva and this creates a breeding ground for the bacteria to grow. Flossing also gets in between all the nooks and crannies a tooth brush can't reach. Make sure you replace your toothbrush after three months. Never share hygienic products, if you're traveling there are travel size items you can buy from the store for convenience. I also have three small tips to remember to achieve healthy teeth.

I have three important rules to follow for maintaining those pearly whites. The first one is simple. Go see your dentist when you've noticed any cavitie(s). The dentist will do a fill in to harden the enamel up again. A cavity will look like a small hole in the tooth.

Tip number two means you should get into a routine you know you can stick to. This is important because a routine means no reminders. Your body is so use to doing whatever it is that it's doing, that your mind doesn't need to be reminded.

Number three is watch what you eat. Certain things like apples and orange juice contains a high amount of acid and we all now acid breaks down tooth enamel leading to cavities. You don't have to eliminate your favorite foods completely, but just enjoy them in moderation. You can also try Pronamel toothpaste which is a special toothpaste made to strengthen and protect tooth enamel.
