A Few Tips On Buying And Renting Dvds

By:

Many of us love to sit down at home and put a good DVD on, but before that we are often wondering whether it is worth buying a particular title or choosing to rent it out instead. So what is the answer to this question?

Well my own view is that nearly all DVDs are worth buying except for movies. For me movies do not really provide good value for money because I personally don't tend to watch them more than once anyway. Even if I do want to watch them again there is nearly always an opportunity to see them again on TV at some point, so for this reason I usually rent out any movies I want to watch because this is easily the most cost-effective option.

Apart from movies though, I pretty much buy the majority of other DVD releases simply because I tend to watch things like stand-up comedy shows, documentaries, and TV comedies and dramas more than once, even if it is often several years later. The only exception are programs such as detective dramas where the whole show is focused on identifying the murderer because my future enjoyment will be ruined by the fact that I will probably be able to remember who the killer is.

Box sets are my favourite form of DVD because these allow you to watch a complete series of a particular TV show and are ideal for when there is nothing on the TV. They are also a great way to watch a TV show that everyone was raving about when it was originally shown, but you unfortunately missed out on. They also stand up to repeat viewings because of the fact that they are so long, and therefore you forget about a lot of the storylines and dialogue.

Other DVDs are also worth watching again simply because of their very nature such as fitness and interactive DVDs, for instance. I find that documentaries and special interest titles are also worth watching the second time around as well, so these too are worth investing in.

So to sum up, I personally think that nearly all types of DVD are worth watching again, and my personal collection is evidence of this fact. The only exception for me are movies which are generally a waste of money because I usually just watch them once and then just leave them to gather dust on the shelf, whereas all the others usually get watched again and again.
