A Few Ideas For Personalizing Your Car

By:

Americans are notorious for having love affairs with their autos! Even in a down economy, people are willing to spend a little extra to make their ride uniquely theirs. Here are some ways to "pimp" your car and give it a touch of individuality.

-- One of the most popular accessories recently has been customized wheel rims: the flashiest of these is by far the spinning rim. Usually made from triple plated chrome, such rims are made from high quality materials and bolt onto existing rims. They create a look that is simply stunning as you whizz down the street. However, in addition to being one of the most popular accessories, they are also one of the most expensive, so beware: they run at least $1,200 apiece.

-- Car decals are a much more affordable alternative when it comes to expressing individuality. Decals and racing stripes can be custom created or are available in stock as well.

Drivers can choose from single color designs that cover the car's body, backscapes that cling to the rear window of pickup trucks, racing stripes that can run the full length of a body's chassis, and many more options. The life expectancy for most decals is 5-7 years, and racing stripes last even longer: either way, you get a lot of mileage for a relatively small investment.

-- Some drivers have chosen to light up the night with their cars, using bright neon LED lighting systems. They can be used to outline the dashboard area of an auto, or exterior kits can make your undercarriage glow in many different colors. Like decals, neon lighting is another way to make your car stand out while not breaking your budget. You can do as much or as little as you like: some companies offer neon lighting just for the door handle area!

-- Tinted windows are a way to add mystery and a subtle sensed of style to your car's appearance. Applied tinting films range in price from $100 to $400 or more, and so you have a wide price range within which to work. However, in this case, if you go for the cheapest brand you are likely to get what you pay for. The higher priced versions are much less likely to be subject to cracking, peeling, and bubbling.

-- Custom designed floor mats are an unusual and attractive way to express your unique personality. Most companies offer a wide variety of colors to choose from and your initials or name can be embroidered right on the fabric.

So have fun outfitting your car just the way you like, and get out there and have a great drive!
