Lots of text details One very common mistake that people commit when writing their letterheads is to use lots of text details. It is indeed tempting to list down all the different important information about you and your company in your color letterheads. Besides that, some people actually want to add marketing messages and advertising prints to add more functionality to the color prints.

The problem though when this happens is that the whole layout gets totally crowded. In fact, in some cases it gets too crowded that people actually get overwhelmed by the newsletter, totally ignoring it after a glance. So try to prevent this from happening. Too many images/logos Another thing to avoid with your color letterheads is the use of far too many images and logos. In fact it is best to just use one main logo or symbol plus a subtle background in your color letterheads. Anything more and you might overwhelm the text content of the letterhead which should not happen. So minimize your use of logos and images. Use only what is necessary.

Too colourful formats You might also want to avoid very colourful formats in your letterhead printing. While it is good to be creative with your custom letterheads, being too colourful with it can sometimes backfire on the design. A color letterhead that has more than three main colors as the theme can often look very amateurish and loud, diluting its professional quality. So try to reign in your color use. Try to form color themes with three or less colors.

Unusual font styles It is also bad for a letterhead design to use unusual font styles. Intricate, wild and artful font styles are highly discouraged simply because they are harder to understand for readers. It is better to use simple classic fonts that everyone can easily see and read. So resist that temptation to use that fancy font you saw from the Internet. Just try to use a few of the clean and professional fonts you usually see instead. Trust me, more people will actually appreciate your letterheads because of it.

Cheap printing quality Finally, never ever print your color letterheads in cheap printing quality. While it might be tempting to try to save some money and use cheaper inks and paper for your color letterheads, the design will surely suffer. If the letterhead design suffers, you and your companys image will suffer as well. So try to print your letterheads with the best quality materials that you can afford. It is the only way to print letterheads properly.
