A Day In The Life Of A Venue Finder

By:

The job of a venue finder my seem like a bed of roses, but it is actually hard work travelling the length and breadth of the British Isles in search of the best venues for weddings, birthdays and corporate parties. A venue finder has to draw upon a wide range of skills to ensure that professionalism is maintained at all times, and that every client's individual needs are met. This is a brief guide into what it takes to do this unusual job.

Being a venue finder is more or less being a scout, but rather than eking out the talents of super models or singers, it is all about finding the best services and surroundings for just about every type of event you can imagine. The job is sometimes done on behalf of a specific client who is looking for a venue to fit a specific purpose. This could be for a gig, a party, or a conference for example.

Knowing the type of place that the client is looking for and what the event will be makes the job a lot easier. The first thing a venue finder looks for is location; not only must it be easy to reach, but it has to be in the right area for the guests. International conferences for example are best located near a major airport, and a sixtieth anniversary celebration is best placed in the same area that the hosts live.

Looking for venues for a company on the other hand allows the finder more freedom, and the imagination can really run riot. It is easy to be seduced by gorgeous architecture, and plush interiors, but it is essential that all the services are thoroughly tried and tested. Booking a client into a hotel for a conference without checking PA systems, seating and office facilities could land a venue finder in big trouble.

The best bit of the job has to be trying pampering packages at spas and hotels, and of course testing the quality of food and wine at a venue. It is essential to make sure the visit is incognito; hosting is a big business, and if a hotelier or restaurateur gets wind of someone on venue finding mission, they will pull out all the stops to make a good impression. Unfortunately, unless they do the same for every guest through the door, it will lead to some very disappointed customers.
