A Day At The Toy Store

By:

The toy store can be a magical place for both children and adults alike. A place where dreams often can and do come true, they are filled with the delights of childhood. From the first soft and fluffy stuffed animal you receive the to more adult play lap top, these stores are jam packed with fun. Spending a few hours at a store with your child can be a fun way to spend a rainy day.

If possible, pick a toy store located in a major mall or town center so you can make a day of it. Plan this special time with your child in advance, perhaps as a reward for a job well done in school or some other positive event in their life. Make sure they know it is time just for them and you to be together and promise them that they can pick out one toy as a special treat (make sure you have a budget though)!

Don't just run into the toy store and grab what they want, spend some time walking up and down the aisle. This can be a special time and your child is likely to show you a different side of their personality as they peruse the toys. Ideally the toy store you pick will allow you to play with at least some of the toys available. Make sure to do this if possible. It can be a great opportunity to see your child in a different light. Laser tag, puzzles, sand tables and other toys are often available in stores to play with and enjoy and this is a chance that should not be passed up.

If there are other children there, or if the toy store offers activities, make sure to participate in them. Again, this can be a chance to see your child in action as he or she interacts with other children or simple works on a craft. Try and find a toy store that does this as it can be a memorable experience.

After you have spent enough time checking out the toys, it is time to allow your little one to take their pick. Treat this like the exciting event it truly is. Talk to them about each toy they want and help them decide which one might be the most fun for them. Make sure to make a big deal out of why they are getting a special toy. Tell them they did a great job in school or thank them for the extra help they gave you at home. Whatever the reason for the special toy, make sure to make a big stink out of it.

After you purchase the toy, consider stopping at a local restaurant or ice cream store to sit down and enjoy something to eat. Talk to the child about their favorite part of the toy store and store this information away for future use. Take the time to really listen to what your child is saying, you might be surprised at what they tell you.

A day out a t a store that sells toys can be a fun way to spend some time with your child and reward them for a job well done. Find a local toy store that lets you play with the toys or sponsors some activities. It will be a day neither of you will forget
