Sadly not much success was had in ensuing period - a mere 25 cars were sold in the five year period between 1888 and 1893. However, the industry was not what it is today and this diminutive figure was all the firm needed to boost its public presence.

In the next vital stage, Benz signed up to a licensing contract with Emile Roger, who constructed and put Benz motor cars up for sale in France. This was one of the initial big automobile commerce deals and got the industry making big bucks, because a couple of countries could benefit from the cars sold by one particular firm.
