Although not as famous to tourists because of its reputation as being a working class neighborhood, De Pijp is one of the great neighborhoods to visit in Amsterdam, particularly if you want to see a blend of local and foreign culture so seamlessly combined in one setting. De Pijp is a hodgepodge of sorts from its shops to the culinary cuisine it serves its guests which makes it exciting for those who are in search of a lively experience in the city. De Pijp also has the Albert Cuyp Market which sells affordable items from flowers to alternative medicine and is considered as the largest outdoor market in Netherlands. The Market is open from Mondays to Saturdays starting at 9: 00 AM to 6: 00 PM. They have different restaurants to offer the adventurous individual such as Mamouche where they serve North African dishes with a Western European influence or Bazar where they have Arabian dishes with North African twist. De Pijp is also famous for their charming, unique shops where most artists sell their work for great deals.

De Plantage is a great alternative escape in Amsterdam for those looking for something more modern than places such as Muiden or Centrum. The whole area found at the East part of Amsterdam is spacious and offers different attractions for kids, adults, intellectuals and adventurers. For the kids and adults on a day trip, try the Artis Zoo, which is a beautiful way to interact with all kinds of animals as they have an aquarium, butterfly garden, petting zoo, a planetarium, geological museum and a research center housed in its property. Since this is Amsterdam, it cant be helped that there are still many historical sites in this contemporary area such as Rembrandts House, Tropenmuseum and the Dutch Resistance Museum. After all the sightseeing, one can have lunch at Restaurant De Kas, which was a former greenhouse turned dining area, or at Bloem, a former warehouse near Artis Zoo. Really, whichever way you look at De Plantage there are so many stores, museums, cafes, museums and parks to have fun in.

Why Amsterdams Centrum is Worth the Visit

Centrum encapsulates everything Amsterdam has to offer. For example, one of the four palaces which Queen Beatrix of Neverlands uses alternately is the Royal Palace of Amsterdam found at its Centrum. Before, it was closed due to safety reasons but has since opened again late last year to accommodate tourists and locals interested to see where royalty lives. Theres also Bloemenmarky, the worlds only floating market which sells mostly flowers. Tourists will also love the different souvenirs found at the market for affordable rates. Then of course, theres the Van Gogh Museum where the largest collection of the Dutch Painters works are found. Aside from the main museum, Centrum also has many museums hidden in its canals, small museums which are kept by private residences and other small organizations also worth the visit. Theres also Anne Franks House in Prisengracht 263 where she lived in the hidden room until their family was found and led to concentration camps. Centrum has so many shops and restaurants to stop by in along the way, so be sure to bring lots of pocket money and a ravenous stomach along the way.
