A Closer Look At The Concept 2 Rower

By:

Concept 2 rowing workout machines made their debut some decades ago in 1981. The company is based in Vermont where the winters are very cold with a good deal of snow. So it makes sense that designing a high quality rowing machine for indoor use would be a fantastic idea. From the beginning, this company set out to apply the best engineering and technology available in their rowers. The person writing this article, me of course, is a Concept 2 customer, and I genuinely can tell you how content I am with their product. This article will review this special and versatile rowing exercise machine for those who are entertaining thoughts of getting one to enjoy.

The Concept 2 company produces the Model D and E with the Model E rower being more expensive. The Model E comes just as you see it, but the Model D has a selection of performance monitor. The performance monitors are referred to as, PM3 or PM4, and they come with each rower. If you need a better monitor with the Model D rowing machine, then you will have to choose the D model with the improved monitor. The other pick, which is more expensive, is the E rowing exercise equipment with the PM4 monitoring device. The Model E costs about $350 more than the Model D depending on which monitoring device you choose.

What is very helpful during exercising is you can use the performance monitors to watch your heart rate while exercising. Your heart rate is monitored by a gadget that you strap across your chest. This heart rate monitor is very low profile and made of rubber, and the strap you use with it is like spandex and adjusts. As soon as you go rowing you aren't even going to notice that it is there. The data from the monitoring device is actually sent out to the PM3 or PM4 for processing and display.

The only thing requiredthat's needed is the resistance to create the rowing action, and that is attained with a flywheel on the front of the rower. There are no safety issues with this because it is totally covered in a plastic assembly. You can adjust the amount of resistance through a small lever found on the flywheel housing. When you are rowing you will hear the seat travel to and fro, the chain movement and the whirringwhizzing of wind from the flywheel, and the noise level is very low. The flywheel turns when you row, and it generates a soft air movement that is extremely quiet. This moving air sound from the flywheel assembly is like a fan that is running at a very low speed setting. Unless someone in the other room is an extremely light sleeper, you won't have to worry about disturbing other people.

You can determine how fast you are rowing, plus other information, from the PM3 or PM4 monitoring devices. There are enough data types to fulfill the needs of either competitive rowers or someone who wants a great exercise. Your approach will for the most part be determined by by your existing level of physical condition and general reason for using the rowing exercise machine. For example, if you are a competitive rower, you will probably keep your eye on different stats from other competitive rowers.
