In 1873 the two cities were unified into one larger city and the names combined to become the grand city that we know of today.

Currently there are four areas you can access the different cave systems and each area has its own unique features. Depending on where you go you can see oddly shaped stalactites and stalagmites, fossils, even crystals. All of the caves stay at a nice cool temperature throughout the day giving you a break from the heat above ground. Two of the caves are guided tours only, but this is great because you learn more about the cave and makes for a family friendly environment as you explore.
