A Chiropractor Uses Touch To Heal

By:

All human beings need to be touched. Infants who are denied this basic need fail to thrive and may even die. The touch of another human can comfort, communicate and heal. It seems that some people have a gift for using touch to heal. Many of these people chose to pursue careers in the healing arts. Many of them become chiropractors.

If your body has been injured or if you experience chronic pain, you may want to consider enlisting the help of a chiropractor to allow your body to heal properly. Yet choosing a provider is a subjective task. Each has a different style and technique. Some tend to be forceful, some more gentle. Some prefer to use technology and if you visit their office, you will find that they routinely utilize a variety of machines over the course of treatment. Others prefer to perform most of their adjustments by hand. A walk through this type of office will reveal minimal equipment, perhaps only a room with a table in it.

If you have never used this form of treatment, you may not know what you want. If this is the case, it will be important for you to communicate to your provider about how he or she is doing. Is their touch too rough? Perhaps it is too soft and you are looking for a more aggressive adjustment. The amount of pressure you prefer may also vary depending on how much pain you are in on the day of your appointment. If you level of pain is high, alert the staff so that they can be sure to handle you with care.

Be sure to let your doctor know how effective the treatment is. If you had a visit that was particularly wonderful and you felt a great deal of relief from your discomfort that lasted for several days, be sure to let the office know. On the other hand, if you feel your visits are not helping, be sure to communicate this so that adjustments to your treatment plan can be made. Effective treatment is a win-win situation for you and the office you go to. For you, it means that you are feeling better. For the treatment center it means that you are more likely to keep coming back and refer your friends and family.

A good chiropractor will take the time to listen to your needs and have the ability to adjust their treatment accordingly.
