A Checklist Prior To Purchasing Above Ground Swimming Pools

Of course everyone knows that above ground swimming pools can change a home and yard from boring to entertaining but what many people, possibly including yourself may not realize, is that any type of pool does bring with it a certain measure of work and responsibility.

All Above Ground Swimming Pools Need a Secure Fence

To begin with, you're going to need a secure fence around your backyard, or at least encircling the area where the pool is. Check to see precisely what's required by code in your city or town. Also remember that this must be a secure fence that a child can't climb over or under.

You Need a Secure Pool Chemical Storage Area

You're also going to need a place to store your pool chemicals. Some people simply keep them together in an unsecured area, such as under the pool deck. This type of arrangement will work for the short term but for the long haul, you're best served by locking them up in a pool house or garage cabinet.

A Platform or Deck for Entering and Exiting

Another thing to consider, is that you're going to need some type of deck or platform for people to enter and leave the pool beginning on day one. The best time to start researching and planning for a pool deck or patio is now. Remember that smaller prefabricated decks are very affordable now.

You're Going to Need a Long Handled Skimmer

You're also going to need pool cleaning tools from the start. You see, from the day above ground swimming pools are filled, they have to be cleaned and maintained. Get your hands on a long handled skimmer and have it ready because your going to need it to remove leaves grass and bugs that end up in the water.
