A Catalog Of Prayer Requests

By:

Catalogs can be about anything but it is normally associated with products that are being marketed by a certain company. But it could also be about anything, such as about prayer requests. You will not need to go to a print house for the catalog printing, but you can actually do it at home without much effort.

Now, you would probably ask, who would need to catalog prayer requests? You can do this as part of your daily devotional time with God or with your ministry. For example, your ministry in church is being an intercessor and it would help you to monitor prayer requests by making a catalog. It will also help you to determine which of your prayers have already been answered.

You ask; how do you go about doing this?

Aside from a prayer notebook, you can make the prayer catalog. The divisions of your listings can depend on your preference. You could make it per person, per relationship (i.e. immediate family, extended family, relatives, friends, co-workers and random strangers), or per topic (i.e. healing, provision, travel protection, etc.).

Eternal Purposes

You can also make a separate catalog for the people whose salvation you have been praying for. Write down the names of the people on each page. You can also paste a photo, if available. It is easier to pray for people if you can see their photos. Write down pertinent information about the individual, such as occupation, age, and specific needs such as a job, healing, marital problems, financial problems, etc. You cannot just pray for someones eternal life without praying for their felt needs. Under the listing for each person you can also write down the date when you started praying for this person and maybe the dates when you prayed for him. There have been reports of people who prayed for their loved ones for years until these people came to know Christ. Can you just imagine how fulfilling it would be to finally write down the word, Saved! in you catalog when the person has repented?

Healing

If you are a prayer warrior, many will come to you and ask you to pray for illnesses from simple colds to infections to debilitating ailments. A lot of times, you will be roused in the night if there is an emergency prayer item. For long-term diseases like cancers, you can make a page for a single person so that you can make space for your notes on additional prayer concerns like finances, wisdom for doctors, etc. As for those simple ailments, you can lump them together as per ailment, write down a persons name and date when the sickness started. Leave a space for notes.

Making catalogs of prayer requests will help you organize your prayer life and if you are in the ministry of intercession, it will help you sort through the many prayer requests that come in either at the church's prayer box, your email, through text messages or through phone calls. This endeavor may not need catalog printing but it will just entail some effort on your part. But the effort will be worth it because at least you will be gratified to note down which of your prayers have already been answered. This will greatly enrich your prayer life in particular and your spiritual life in general.
