A Brief History Of The Luxurious Lexus

By:

Lexus was first launched back in 1987 with its famous LS 400 series. The car was designed specifically for the top end of the car market with quality and precision engineering foremost on the design team's agenda. This fist model was to demonstrate that high performance meant far more than sheer power.

They ensured that smooth and flexible running, along with high efficiency was top of their agenda. The engine was built of the lightest weight aluminium alloys wherever possible to help keep the overall weight of the car down to provide maximum resistance and therefore greater efficiency and power.

The interior of this new car was had to meet the very highest standards, with luxury leather seats and high quality polymers for the dashboard.

In 1988 the first Lexus was shown at the Los Angles Motor Show and within a few months the first seventy dealerships were opened in America as the introductory flagships of this luxury car onto the American car market.

Later models underwent arduous testing including having to prove its performance the extreme weather conditions of the frozen wastes of North America.

As popularity of this luxury car grew so did the design teams innovative ways of thinking. One of the design features which were included in the 1990 models were extra considerations to the underside of the car's aerodynamics.

The Lexus was launched onto the UK market in 1990 and met with very positive reviews from the British as a new luxury limousine which met consumer demands of a car in its class.

The following year, 1991, the SC 400 superseded the original LS series, although it kept the same 4 litre engine as used in the LS series it had an additional side bar to help improve safety for side impact collisions. This newest model made its debut in America. Within three years from the first launch the Lexus became the best selling imported car in the USA.

In 1993 the stylish GS300 series became available in the USA and was launched onto the European market at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This new model saw a new concept in dashboard layout along with walnut inserts on the centre consol and door switch panels to add a further touch of class and durability. This layout is still used on all models to date.

In 1995 the next generation of the popular LS 400 series was launched with all of the latest innovations and design technologies being evident in both the interior and exterior.

Each year Lexus continued to update and refine the design and style of their models, all the time retaining the sleek high class design style and superior engine performance. By 2000 the Lexus name had become synonymous with the highest quality at the most competitive pricing.

Each of the consecutive years to date Lexus has been inspired to keep one step of its competitors by ensuring their models excelled in every feature of external and interior designs, with sports models making a huge impact on the luxury car market for performance, durability and efficiency. In 2008 the IS F became the world's first car to have an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift (SDS).

The Lexus has made its mark on the global market and in order to retain its reputation is only available through some of the most prestigious Lexus Northern Ireland dealerships.
